In taking care of your dogs, their hygiene and cleanliness shouldn’t be taken for granted. Of course, we all want our pets to be kept clean and healthy, and also comfortable at all times, so proper grooming should be done with your dogs on a regular basis.
Sure there are already a lot of dog groomers where you can carry your pets to their shop at least once in a month, to do the bathing, ear cleaning, and other necessary stuffs needed. But if you do not have enough budget for that, then learning how to do this on your own would be a great alternative. Not only it will save you some bucks, this can also be a bonding time between you and your pet.
Unlike us humans, their bath can be done at least once or twice a month, depending on their breed, and also the place where you reside. In more humid areas, you can bathe your dogs twice a month, especially if he has thicker coat, and can make him irritate or even suffer to heat stroke if not properly ventilated and refreshed.
Choosing for the right shampoo is very much important to keep your dog from any irritation and allergies. Some may require to be diluted in water, and should be rinse entirely to make sure that it will not irritate your dog’s skin later on.
There are also breeds of dogs that do not shed, and grow their hairs like humans, so regular trimming should be done. This is very important and one way to detect if there are any ticks resting on your dog’s coats, or if there are any cuts, dryness on their fur that needs some attention.
Aside from that, their ears should be cleaned as well in a regular basis, since this can be a haven for dirt and bacteria which can cause him some infections. His nails should also be kept short, since if not properly cut or if kept long, this may cause painful walking with your pets and may also cause them some unwanted scratches and bruises, or even infection.
Dog grooming depends on your dog breed. Others may require more frequent grooming, while others require minimal maintenance. It is mostly important that before owning a dog, you must make sure that you know the right way of taking care of them, and should always allocate a time in making sure that they are properly groomed and that their health is well maintained and monitored.
